Social Media is inherently a Selfish Medium.

My mother works as a teacher in a nearby school. A few days ago, she narrated an incident that took place in her school. A not-for-profit organization, "Feeding India" had come there, with the purpose of serving a meal to the poor and needy children in the locality. The organization works with the purpose of eliminating hunger and wastage of food in India. The volunteers took pictures of children enjoying their food and having a good time. The idea was to post the pictures on facebook and instagram and spread awareness about their selfless initiative and about unparalleled humane qualities of compassion, sharing and the joy of giving. Their volunteers and members are pro-active on social sites and aim to encourage others in joining hands with them to serve the underprivileged. This is just one example of showing how massive, influential and significant social media has become. Social Media is nothing but computer mediated technologies that facilitate sharing of views,

Destiny of a nation is shaped in it's classrooms.

Nations are built on the foundations of the blood and sweat of it's leaders, economists, scientists, doctors, teachers, ordinary citizens, who get to play significant roles in the process of nation building. And the responsibility for writing down it's destiny and taking the nation forward in the holistic development process, is laid in the shoulders of today's children who move on to become the future of a nation.  Today's children become tomorrow's scientists making innovations in the field of research, they become doctors providing medical aid to one and all enhancing quality of life. They become architects, creating updated infrastructure for their nation. And all of these are prepared when a nation provides the right amount of environment , opportunities and prospects to these children. With environment here means, education and learning, for which a child goes to school , which is rightly regarded as the temple of learning . Thus it becomes the respons

Biggest threat to humanity : Moral Crisis or Climate Change?

Gandhi ji, the great philosopher and the father of our nation, used to say, "The earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs but not every man's greeds". This quote signifies two things, that the earth and nature try their optimum level to meet the needs and necessities of living beings, in order to make their survival smooth on this planet. But they fall short in fulfilling every man's greeds. We humans are greedy by nature. When our needs are met, the demand for more rises. And that is where problem rises too. If it is said that humanity has evolved and humans have progressed with time, one cannot deny the fact that there exists several factors that pose serious threats to humanity due to which survival of life and it's prolonged continuation is endangered. Some of these factors being - Climate Change, Nuclear Terrorism, Loss of Biodiversity, food shortages.

Corruption in India: Neither Systemic Reforms nor Surgical Strikes would End it

Madhav is a bright school going boy. He comes from a lower middle class family. His mother is a primary school teacher. His parents have high aspirations and hopes from him. They want to see him settled well with a dignified job in his life. His parents make every possible effort so that Madhav's studies are not affected because of any financial ups and downs. Just to lend him support, his mother gets pens, rulers and notebooks from her school. Of course, she does not pay for it. What does this tale highlight? Supporting the child in attaining education smoothly is a lovely act, but the means by which the support is given is not right. The stationery that came for school's official purpose was used by Madhav. This small act is a form of corruption as well. Corruption is nothing but an unethical act where moral integrity is undermined, and honesty and loyalty are put at stake. (Madhav's mother put her moral integrity, honesty and loyalty as a teacher in general an

Water disputes between states in federal India

"It is said that the next world war may be fought for water." This clearly highlights the significance of water for everyone. Water has always been the most crucial resource. The everyday utility of water is well known to us. It touches upon every sphere of human life, from household purposes like drinking, cooking and washing to agricultural purposes to industrial, water is required by everyone. The ancient civilizations like Mesopotamia civilization flourished on the bank of river Nile and Indus valley civilization, on the bank of river Indus. One prominent reason why Magadha empire rose to become a mighty kingdom was the presence of rivers Ganges, Son and Champa that encircled it on the three sides and made it impregnable for the enemy. River water has been a matter of dispute and powerful kingdoms in the Indian history had wanted to establish their supremacy and control over the fertile areas of rivers. The dispute of "Raichur Doab" is well known by us. It was

Root cause of our social and national degradation is our treatment of women.

It was a bustling Sunday morning. As a daily routine, I grabbed a cup of tea and sat down with the newspaper in my other hand. The front page had something that caught my eyes. In Sikaar, Rajasthan, doctors have thought of starting a unique practice. When a baby girl is born in the hospitals of the district, they’ll reduce the hospital fee by 50%, gift the mother and provide concessions to baby’s check up till she gets ten years old. But, should I be happy regarding the step taken by doctors in a state where girls and women go through hardships or should I mourn at the ills present in the society? India, at present enjoys a fine position on international platform. When it speaks, the world stops and listens. In the near future we’ll become a superpower. But, we cannot ensure holistic development in true letter and spirit unless and until the women of our nation are ill treated. Our Indian society won’t be labelled as a PROGRESSIVE SOCIETY unless we let our women proceed in all sp

‘Overdependence on Technology will Advance Human Development’

Human beings have been blessed with the ability to think, use their mind for a reason. And with their skills and abilities, they have successfully managed to convert the "gifts of nature" as "resources". Resources that can benefit living beings, that can create a better world. These resources enabled humans to strive to invent and through this ability, humans have developed society and made technological inventions. And since then, technology has been present in every possible sphere. The way we think, the way we live, the way we communicate, the way we travel, the way we learn, every possible thing has been changed due to technological advancements. It has simplified the way we do things. Due to technological advancements health care facilities have improved and doctors have been successful in saving innocent lives. Now, most challenging diseases can be cured with the development of new drugs and health care facilities. Technology has prolonged the human life
